Lots of pasta will be devoured and fellowship will be shared later this month at a benefit dinner to support a helping ministry in its 25th year serving Yukon.

Yukon Compassionate Hands’ Annual Spaghetti Dinner and Raffle will be 5:30-7 p.m. Saturday, June 22 at Yukon Masonic Lodge #90, 1201 E Main.

“This is a yearly community event that offers lots of great food and fellowship,” Compassionate Hands’ Director Joanne Riley said.

The $5 dinner ticket includes “all-you-can-eat” spaghetti, salad, and bread; with tea, lemonade and water to drink. Cookies will be two for $1.

The family of Joe and Jill Fidelie will prepare the authentic Italian spaghetti dinner.

“The Masonic Lodge provides us the use of their building as part of their ‘love offering’ to the community,” Compassionate Hands’ Board Member Marsha Felton said.

Yukon Masonic Lodge #90 is partnering with Compassionate Hands to support the community at the June 22nd dinner.

“Whatever we earn, the Masonic Lodge matches up to $1,000,” Compassionate Hands’ Board Member Cathy Patton said.

The annual fund-raising dinner features a raffle for a $300 Visa gift card. Raffle tickets are $5 each and $20 for five.

SUPPORTING YUKON

Attendees of the June 22nd dinner should know they are helping a fabulous cause, according to Riley.

“The funds we raise will go to support our programs, assisting Yukon residents in temporary crisis and providing transportation for senior citizens and people with disabilities to medical appointments, dialysis, shopping trips, and some other errands,” Riley said.

Compassionate Hands recently added a second wheelchair-accessible “Care-A-Van” to meet the increasing demand for this service.

“The two vans are providing, minimally, 360 trips per month,” Riley said.

Besides Compassionate Hands’ two card parties each year, this spaghetti dinner is the helping ministry’s only major annual fund-raiser.

Compassionate Hands’ board members thanked the organization’s annual sponsors for supporting the spaghetti dinner and other activities during 2019:

Yanda & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Oklahoma City Community Foundation, St. John of Nepomuk Catholic Church & School, City of Yukon, Smith & Turner Mortuary, Grace Church, Bethel Community Church, Yukon Church, and Canadian County Cowboy Church.

People need not be present at the June 22nd spaghetti dinner to win the raffle or door prizes. Dinner and drawing tickets are available from any Compassionate Hands’ board member.
